An out of control fire ravaged a Gold Coast shopping centre in the early hours of this morning (August 20), destroying shops and offices at the two-storey complex.
The blaze reportedly broke out at the Oxenford centre about 01:20 local time, with firefighters battling the flames for almost four hours.
"About 75 per cent of the complex was on fire and has been destroyed," a spokesperson of the Department of Community Safety told the Courier Mail.
"Every single shop has been on fire or been smoke logged," they added.
No one was injured as a result of the fire, however affected shop owners are likely to be thanking their lucky stars for investing in comprehensive business insurance.
Insurance cover can be a lifesaver in the event of a fire or natural disaster, safeguarding your enterprise against the financial implications of such a devastating event.
With property loss and damage a by-product of fire, investing in cover will help employers get their business back on track - fast tracking recovery times with the aid of financial support.
Investigations are being carried out to determine the cause of the fire at the Maudsland Road and Killarney Court shopping complex.
