A fire has ripped through a regional Victorian town in the Yarra Valley, causing widespread damage in its wake.
According to ABC reports, an industrial laundry in Healesville has been destroyed by the fire this morning (July 10), but firefighters have now brought the blaze under control.
Mark Kennedy, of the Country Fire Authority, said a number of businesses had been in danger of being engulfed by the fire, including a supermarket and bank.
The fire is thought to have started in Torrumbarry, a town in the Murray River region, about 1700 local time yesterday (July 9).
And on the other side of the country in Western Australia a 100-year-old school in the suburb of Mt Lawley was the centre of an arson attack which destroyed 85 per cent of the heritage building.
More than 50 firefighters attended the blaze on Saturday night (July 7), but the fire-ravaged school was almost completely destroyed.
Businesses affected by the Victorian fire will no doubt be getting in touch with their insurance providers as soon as possible for damage assessment.
Natural disasters and devastating events such as fires highlight the importance of protecting your company through a comprehensive business insurance policy.
Knowing your enterprise is financially protected in the event that something out of your control should happen is comforting. It also allows you to focus on more important things during what can be a particularly stressful time.
