Income Protection for Eligible Blue Care Employees

Blue Care is committed to the ongoing wellbeing of its employees particularly where they are unable to work due to illness or injury. We realise that injuries and sickness can seriously impact the lives of our colleagues and wish to ease some of the stress.

To reduce the financial burden of being off work due to illness or injury, Blue Care has teamed with Coverforce to provide income protection to meet the requirements of our staff. Our WageCare policy will provide up to 85% of income, including overtime and allowances, should you be unable to work, for an extended period of time, due to illness or injury.

We hope that you will never need to utilise the services of our income protection provider, but we’re pleased that our staff have peace of mind to knowing that they are covered should something unfortunate occur.

* Employee eligibility is determined by the employee’s enterprise agreement. Presently this scheme covers only staff employed under the Care and Support Employees EA 2013. Please contact your HR team to determine your eligibility.

Benefits for blue care employees

If you are unable to work due to serious illness or injury the following benefits are available:

  • 85% of your income if you become sick or injured outside of work. This is 85% of your gross income, and includes shift allowances and overtime
  • 85% workers compensation top-up benefit if you are injured at work
  • Waiting period 21 days
  • Benefit period up to 104 weeks maximum
  • Covered up to age 70 (maximum 12 weeks beyond age 65 for sickness)
  • Covered up to age 70 (maximum 52 weeks beyond age 65 for injury)
  • $20,000 Death benefit (up to age 70)
  • $5000 Spousal death benefit

Yes. For employees covered by this plan, there is a $20,000 death benefit.

Yes. There is a $5,000 death benefit should an employee’s spouse pass away, there is also a Homemaker’s allowance of up to $200 per week for a maximum of 20 weeks.

Yes. Cover is world-wide for accident and illness outside of work.

No. You can use your own doctor.

Yes. Cover is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Yes. Sporting activities are covered, however professional sports and aerial activities are not covered. Also, there is a 28 day waiting period for all codes of football.

Yes. You are covered for sickness for up to 12 weeks beyong the age of 65. You are covered up to 52 weeks beyond age 65 for injuries. The cut-off age is 70.

Yes. You would be eligible for a partial disability benefit, provided you met the waiting period requirements and continued to be partially disabled.

Cover is only provided if on the date of Sickness, the Insured Person has ceased all treatment and advice for at least six (6) months, this must be agreed by a registered and legally qualified Medical Practitioner.
