QLD: jobs boom in LNG and construction sector

Jobs on the rise in Queensland.

Employers in the sunshine state will likely be pleased with news that one of the region's major energy supply projects has been given the green light to extend its operations.

More than 9,000 jobs are on offer in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry in Central Queensland.

Construction workers in the Gladstone area are expected to benefit from plans to increase the Australian Pacific (AP) project in the region from 15 to 25 per cent, which would see the sale of an additional 66 million tonnes of LNG in just over 20 years.

Graeme Bethune, energy analyst, said that the LNG sector in the country would remain strong despite economic difficulties in other countries.

"Because we've got eight projects under construction now, those projects all have off-take contracts from buyers," he told the ABC.

Brands looking to capitalise on the building work involved with this development may find it useful to take on new staff in order to keep up with demand.

With this in mind it is always a good idea to check your paperwork before initiating any expansion and updating your company's business insurance is an important part of this process - having the right policy for your unique needs may even lead to long term savings.
