Mining boom continues to drive investment in WA

Mining continues to have an impact on construction work.

Mining is continuing to dominate the domestic economy, with a number of new resource driven projects due to start in 2012.

Industry publication Creamer Media's Mining Weekly reports that the sector is continuing to drive investment in key areas across the nation.

Major projects in the region are not only boosting profit margins and job opportunities on the West Coast, but also flowing into the engineering and construction sector which is helping to keep these industries above water in what have been fairly tough times.

Deloitte partner David Rumbens said: "Deloitte Access Economics expects investment levels to continue rising over 2011-12 and the following two years."

But Mr Rumbens also made it clear that despite record profits more work would need to be done to improve infrastructure in order to really push growth.

Employers in the engineering construction sector wanting to take on different project management and building contracts may find that updating their business insurance will help to cut down on overhead costs, making them a more competitive option when it comes to tenders.

In addition to finding hidden savings having a professional go over your different insurance policies, as well as general paperwork is a smart way to get ahead.
