SA: Gov't funding for training

Training funding for SA businesses

Keeping a skilled and adaptable employee base can be an important part of running a successful business.

Having a sufficient number of workers who are up to date with the newest practises and technology can sometimes affect the wining of new contracts, and your company's reputation.

But the cost of training or upskilling can be high - in both time and money spent - and can impact on the everyday operation of your company.

However, employers in South Australia may now be able to allay that cost with help from the state government.

Those in industries considered to be important to SA's economic growth can apply for up to 90 per cent of the cost of training.

Robert Hunt, of The Australian Institute of Building, said that this assistance would boost the construction and building industries at a time when a skilled labour force is most needed.

He added that a number of new projects were on the cards for the infrastructure and mining sectors in the region and that this funding would help take pressure off the current workforce by allowing more trainees to learn their trade.

If you are looking to take on new employees or increase the skillset of your existing staff, a review of your business insurance can be a good idea.

Updating and innovating may alter your requirements and it can be important to make sure you are covered for any new contracts that may become available.
