Financial assistance for more Queenslanders affected by Jan floods

More flood-damaged towns in Queensland are being given access to clean-up grants as the state government extends the geographical boundaries for its assistance packages.

Small businesses, primary producers and not-for-profit organisations in the eastern Quilpie Shire region are now able to apply for grants of up to $25,000 for clean-up and recovery.

Financial assistance has also been made available by other organisations including the Commonwealth government.

State minister for agriculture, food and regional economies Tim Mulherin said: "This targeted assistance will go a long way in helping these small businesses, primary producers and not for profit organisations repair essential infrastructure so they can get their businesses back up and running as soon as possible."

He added that these grants could be extended further still, depending on impact reports from further afield which are still being filed.

These governmental assistance funds can help boost recovery, and can perform hand-in-hand with a tailored commercial building insurance policy.

While the effects of flood damage could be great, the aftermath may be lessened by having comprehensive cover in place.
