Skyscrapers included in plan for Melbourne CBD

The Victorian government has unveiled its vision for Melbourne's CBD, which includes high rises and high-density living.

Planning minister Matthew Guy announced his plan last week, which would see an expanded city zone and the inclusion of skyscrapers.

Mr Guy said: "This proposal could cement Melbourne as the best CBD for growth and investment opportunity in Australia. Maintaining our advantage is vital for retaining important construction jobs, as well as an affordable city for residents and businesses."

He added that the plan is long-term - to unfold over the next 20 to 50 years - and would help to create a vibrant and prosperous commercial area, as well as provide support to the outer suburbs.

Mr Guy has asked for input from Melburnians regarding his plan, as high-density residential and commercial development can sometimes bring with it unique requirements for the community.

When investment opportunities for multi-level buildings arise, it can be a good idea to chat with your broker about strata title and commercial building insurance. Having cover in place which is tailored to your needs can afford you peace of mind when you are looking to add to your portfolio.
