A number of new projects are due to kick off this year.

Employers in the Brisbane area may benefit from the construction of a new multimillion dollar housing project and similar developments within the region.

A post-war public housing precinct in Queensland is set to be transformed into a vibrant metropolis adding to the rejuvenation of Brisbane's southside.

Housing minister Karen Struthers made the announcement on Thursday (February 2) this week as part of the government's plan to make over the CBD.

"This project is the way of the future – medium density living, a mix of modern social housing and privately-owned townhouses and apartments, all guided by a master plan," she said.

"It means new homes just 12km from Brisbane's CBD, with train stations and buses in walking distance connecting to Sunnybank, Garden City, Griffith University and the QEII hospital."

The $230 million project will see the addition of a new neighbourhood in the area using real estate between Boundary Rd, Breton Street and Troughton Rd at Cooper Plains and the government is hoping to oversee the construction and sale of more than 900 homes on the site when the project ifs finally completed.

However, in order to make sure that your business is ready to take on new work it is important to have your construction insurance and other necessary paperwork in order.
