Government funding for flood prevention in Maranoa

Maranoa Regional Council has announced the national government's offer of $10 million to go toward flood prevention projects and research for the area. This news comes as the clean-up continues around south west Queensland, where residents and businesses are continuing the road to recovery.
According to ABC reports, the state government has endorsed the council's interim flood strategy for the town of Roma - which has now endured its third flood in as many years - which calls for levee and drainage upgrades, trying to prevent a repeat of the disaster situations experienced in the last three years.
Maranoa mayor Robert Loughnan said: "We need assistance to ensure we have the best possible flood mitigation strategies in place to protect us from future flood events."
Having a sound commercial building insurance policy in place before a disaster occurs may help to speed up the process of any resulting damage negotiations with councils and other local government bodies.
Knowing what you are covered for and what you may need assistance with may help you put a strategy in place for recovery and growth.
