Should I elect to use my own repairer in a motor claim?

Most Motor Insurance products list choice of repairer as a key policy benefit. However, what policy holders may not realise, is that choosing your own provider leads to an additional seven-day turnaround, on average. That's a significant delay, particularly if it's an important work vehicle.

In the race to capture market share, no insurer wants to be seen without "choice of repairer" listed as a policy benefit. Yet it is often just the opposite. For most clients, using the insurer's preferred repairer is the quickest way to get their vehicles back on the road. What's even more compelling is that repairs carried out by an insurer preferred provider will also typically come with a lifetime guarantee.

  • Repairs have a Lifetime Guarantee - Repairs carried out by an insurer preferred repairer, will typically come with a lifetime guarantee. When you choose your own repairer, the guarantee period on repairs is at the discretion of that service provider.
  • Faster Turnaround - Insurer preferred repairers are faster not just due to the removal of the requirement for an assessor, but also because these providers agree to work with insurers in the correct way to make the whole process smoother.
